UNESCO Site Guide

Spring 2025

Te Wāhipounamu encompasses the natural beauty of a region relatively untouched by humans. This visual identity system explores a fresh approach to the culture, climate, and history of New Zealand's South Island.

Project Overview

For the duration of this project, we explored the roles of visual systems and how they create the look, feel, and identity of a brand. Our task was to choose a world site of cultural, natural, or historical significance and use what we had learned to create an identity system of our own for the chosen site.

Tucked away on the South Island of New Zealand, Te Wāhipounamu encompasses the natural beauty of a region relatively untouched by humans. Spanning over 2.6 million hectares and including four main sites, Te Wāhipounamu is home to countless unique species endemic to New Zealand; natural phenomena such as fjords, glaciers, and mountains; and a rich cultural history within the Māori identity.
