The Vignellis

Synopsis

During the Design Hero project, we were tasked with creating a five-part series in which we explored the contributions of a significant designer or pair of designers from history. Media format included poster, publication, mobile interface, website, and video.

Who Were the Vignellis?

Arguably the most prolific husband-wife duo in the design world, the work of Lella and Massimo Vignelli spanned across print, publication, furniture, brand, and fashion, championing the early framework of clean, minimalist design built to last. Throughout this project, I felt heavily inspired by 1960s furniture and design catalogues, and played with the juxtaposition of showcasing the Vignellis' deep breadth of work in both minimal, clear displays as well as maximalist collages. This allowed me to place their work front and center whilst exploring my own personal design style and creating deliverables that would mesh well together on a larger scale.
